Unbreakable: The View From Inside The Glass House

Unbreakable If you haven’t guessed it, this post is kinda inspired by my favorite TV show Being Maryjane. The main character played by Gabriel Union, Ms Maryjane Paul. Like many women, Mary Jane seems strong, accomplished, self sufficient, and Unbreakable. But the truth is so far from that reality. As we see her spiraling to rock bottom as she sits in her beautiful glass house. Dealing with family issues, job insecurity, love woes, and now the recent suicide of her oldest friend. Maryjane seems to be failing apart, but some how at her lowest point she manages to pull herself up and begin to reclaim her life.

Have you ever felt like your were at your wits end? You know the point that you look around and think, how did I get here and how am I going to get out of this situation? Some have called this rock bottom or a breaking point, but what if this is your unbreakable point.

The word unbreakable makes one think that something is so strong or flexible that it can not be destroyed. But what if that thing is actually so broken, that it is too small to be broken down anymore, thus rendering it unbreakable. So what do you do when you are at your Unbreakable breaking point and you’re about to start breaking down? Here are my tips for remaining Unbreakable.

U.N.B.R.E.A.K.A.B.L.E.

Understand that there is no limits to what God can do

Never give less than you would expect in return.

Be true to who you are, don’t worry about what people think.

Rise to the challenge. There will be struggles, but anything worth having is worth fighting for.

Expect nothing less than to win.

Accept People for who they show you they are. I’m talking to myself here. I tend to romanticize people that I like, but at the end of the day, they are who they are.

Know that this too shall pass.

Unbreakable Allow yourself time to grow. Oprah was not built in a day.

Believe that you can, and you will.

Love with all that you have.

Evolve- your situation can not change unless you do.

There is no right way to do everything, but the bottom line is, as long as you keep moving forward, you are still in the game. If you watch the show you know that Maryjane loves quotes, on of my favorites is ” Sometimes you win, Sometimes you learn”. In other words you will not always come out on top, but you can always learn something from every situation.
