Wisdom Wednesday : Are You Missing Your Blessing?

“And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sped through the creation story, never recognizing the blessing in divine order. God created fruit beating trees, vegetation, and plants yielding seed .i.e “food” days before there was anything living to eat the food. Three days before creating man,on the 6th day, and two days before creating the animals on the fifth day.

On the third day God provided provision. Before there was even a need. He had not yet created Adam and Eve yet he made provisions for them.

This is exactly the way God makes provision for us! Well in advance of our need, God has already provided the “food”. But how often are we speeding by the creation because it seems insignificant?

Or maybe we have a picture of what said blessing should look like, so we can’t acknowledge the blessing when it shows up, because it’s not packaged the way we think it should be.

Well, we know what happened to the last “people” that rejected a blessing because it didn’t appear they way they thought it should right? Ok then, enough said.

The challenge for us is to see the provision and care, even when it is different than we expect, because God is God, his ways are not like our ways, and His thought are higher than our thoughts.

First we must have faith. When we put your faith in Christ, God commissions himself to protect, provide, and care for us.

When you put your faith in Christ, the bible tells us we will have what ever we so desire. God always provides for his children, though often it is not in the way we expect or hope.

So as I bring this message to a close I leave you with the following scripture

Matthew‬ ‭7:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

And lastly, always seek God!

She Is Visionary: Vision Board Party 2016

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of sharing a space with 30 or so inspiring visionary women. I attended a Vision Board Party, hosted by Nate’ Jones of Leaders In Lipstick. It was held in the private room at 710 Bar in Midtown Manhattan. As we arrived we were all greeted by Nate’s bubbly high energy which kept up the mood all night.

It was a B.Y.O.B ( bring your own board) bottles were served at request. She had magazines, glue sticks, and scissors strategically placed throughout the room. This was meant to encourage us to engage with one another. You couldn’t just sit in your corner, because you had to go across the room to ask for scissors, or glue, or maybe to see a magazine next.

Throughout the night Nate’ shared why she does vision boards, and the fact that she does two a year. For her it’s important to do a mid-year evaluation, to refocus or revamp based on new developments or new goals that she has for the next half of the year. We were also blessed with inspirational quotes from the likes of Eleanor Roosevelt, C.S. Lewis, Rumi, and other visionary thinkers from the past and present.

There was something about knowing that every woman there was seeking something new, something more, something greater that made the entire experience a creative whirlwind of inspiration. The company of ladies was a mix of brand owners, bloggers, entertainers, and their supporters. I even won a mug!

I’ve done vision boards before, some on a board, and some digitally. In fact I am much more used to doing the digitally, but I must admit, going through the magazines I was very drawn to the words on the pages. It’s funny, the last week of December, I already planned out my strategy and themes for where I wanted my platform to go. But after this event, I have new visions, and some new directives. Also, this was the first time my husband attended an event with me. I was touched by his gesture of helping me make my vision board. I even expressed to him that I felt this was symbolic of his willingness to help me bring my vision to action.

I believe in the power of visualization! In fact on of my favorite quotes is “ if you can conceive it, you can achieve it”. I am Christian, so I don’t look at this process as some magical spell. However just as many before me, I am reminded of some scriptures that lend themselves in favor of these practices.

“Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”
‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬

Likewise, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬.

Are the most commonly used in these boards. ‬‬‬‬

So even if you don’t go to a party or gathering, you should do a vision board for you life, your business, and or your career path.
There is no right or wrong way to do it, but for me the key to manifestation is praying and letting God work out the how and the why!

My intention was to write this post about packing to go away on a long weekend road trip. My plan was what to wear and how to pack it. But, so much has happened to me this past week , I know there is more to be shared. Sometimes on your journey to a really awesome life, God will challenge you with a risk of faith. These risk will cause you to go beyond your comfort zone. The reality is everything we do all day involves some level of faith in action. imageWhen you sit in a chair you have faith that it will hold you up. Sometimes it doesn’t, lol but that doesn’t stop you from sitting on chairs 😉. We faithfully go outside and turn the key in our vehicle, knowing it will take us to our intended destination. With these actions we go through our days with a childlike faith, never questioning the outcome. Yet, sometimes God challenges you to take greater risk so that He may get the glory from your life. The bible tells us with out faith it is impossible to please God. In fackt Rick Warren author of “ The Purpose Driven Live” says the worst thing we can do is play it safe with ourselves. This brings to mind that familiar phrase “no test, no testimony”!

Last Tuesday as I sat at my desk contemplating going shopping to pick up a few things, I decided to check my account balance. To my horror I was at -52 cent. I panicked! I went through my transactions and found out that someone had completely emptied my checking account! To say I was sickened couldn’t possibly be enough to explain the feeling I was having. Now this was 2 days before the holiday and I had no money! The bank employees were very helpful and reassuring but guess what I was still broke👊. They explained that it could take up to 90 days to get my money back😫. Brokeness aside ( note everybody’s broke has a different number) I couldn’t help but wonder what God was using this experience for, and why did He have to take my money for me to get the lesson!image

I made it through the 4th of July and my work week began, now I started to think about my plans to go to Virginia for the “Return Of The Curls 2 Weekend”. I purchased my tickets months ago when I found out Myleik was going to be there.

Should I go in brokeness, lol?! I prayed hard about it. everything in me said go, but fear was holding me captive. I started seeing all these words ( I’m going to label them convictions) posts, emails, conversations and even unrelated photos that spoke to me about stepping out on faith and trusting God. Now usually by the time I see words, God has resorted to His last way of communicating with me😂. If I explain away the feelings, He plants thoughts. If I dismiss the thoughts, He brings up my experience of victory. If I’m still hesitant, then the yelling starts( “words” lol. )That’s the last way God converses with me.

Being a faith filled person it is necessary for me to recognize and acknowledge God. Finally I got the lesson! Realizing that money will fail you but God never will. So I decided to press my way on.image

I kinda thought staying home would be the safe thing to do, but this would rob me of the awesome life that I desire. I’m not use to traveling, but God has planted this seed of travel in my spirit. I often describe my self as the tree by the river, but my roots are growing long and strong, stretching further, grounded in faith, and trusting Gods plans for me.

Remember when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59: 19
