Today I am tackling the question every curly asks at some point on their natural hair journey “How did she get her hair to look like that” ? Most often its when I see a Naturalistas rocking the coveted Twist out! I’ve been natural for almost 3 years and I can’t say I’m totally satisfied with my results…but I have to say I’ve turned the corner, because now I get Curlys asking me that same question. It’s always followed with what products do you use? As if there some secret sauce that makes all twist out perfect.

This is such a loaded question, because the products and the results depend on the condition of your hair, the technique you use, and most importantly your expectations. I’ve watched countless tutorials and read numerous posts about what works best, and the truth is practice makes perfect.

I love doing twist outs but I haven’t yet conquered the world of video editing. So thanks to some of my favorite vloggers I have compiled a few videos to help any curly achieve a bomb twist out!

First up Jenell B Stewart of KinkyCurlyCoilyMe.Com . I’m starting with this one because she gives very good details and her steps are clear and defined. Also because her natural hair is not curly and the results are very realistic.

Second is Yolanda Renee of Etcblogmag.com even though she doesn’t do a full tutorial, she gives great tips!

I’m just gonna say, learning that I had to keep each section separated ( no borrowing) was a game changer for my twist out results !

Next Tiffany Arlene of Beautiffulcurls.com, She starts with dry hair, which I also do most times. Also there’s a what to do when your twists aren’t dry tip, HINT you better not take it out yet!

Did you see it? I usually do my twists at night and allow them to dry overnight, but there’s always that one twist that didn’t dry! That’s when I use the quick dry method that you saw in Tiffany’s video.

Okay now you’ve seen 3 different methods on three different hair types. Now how do you maintain that bomb masterpiece? I’m so glad you asked.
This next video is from Angela Lauren of Loveisbellaaa with 5 ways to go to bed with natural hair.

5 bed time routines for natural hair

I have used all of these methods. I usually just refresh in the morning with one of my favorite leave ins, and some oil. Achieving a banging twist out isn’t as hard as it seems. With the right information it’s a piece of cake!
