She Is Visionary: Vision Board Party 2016
This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of sharing a space with 30 or so inspiring visionary women. I attended a Vision Board Party, hosted by Nate’ Jones of Leaders In Lipstick. It was held in the private room at 710 Bar in Midtown Manhattan. As we arrived we were all greeted by Nate’s bubbly high energy which kept up the mood all night. It was a B.Y.O.B ( bring your own board) bottles were served at request. She had magazines, glue sticks, and scissors strategically placed throughout the room. This was meant to encourage us to engage with one another. You couldn’t just sit in your corner, because you…

Just Act Natural: How To Stick To Your New Year’s Goals & Resolutions
With the coming of every new year, we make resolutions, declarations, commitments or what ever you want to call them. Very often we don’t even keep them for one week. The biggest reason is because we have these unrealistic unnatural goals, but we are not committing to the process. So Naturally we FAIL! What if we were to take a more natural approach to these goals? Here’s what I mean. If you have made a goal to exercise every morning, but yet you have trouble getting up in the morning, more than likely you will not accomplish this goal easily. However if you tend to stay up later, or you…

Inside influence: Listening To The Little Voice Inside You
Inside influence: The Little Voice Inside You We’ve all had the little voice inside us leading us down one road or another. Some people have told me, that as long as they can remember, they have listened to that little voice. In most cases these are some of the most successful people I know. One of my favorite artist, CeeLo Green, just dropped a new project called “Heart Blanche”. Basically it’s a play on the word we use for total control “Carte Blanche”. It’s about giving your heart total control. Let’s marinate on that thought….are you ready to go higher? The Holy Ghost, The Ancestors, The Gods, Your Knower, Oprah…

Unbreakable: The View From Inside The Glass House
If you haven’t guessed it, this post is kinda inspired by my favorite TV show Being Maryjane. The main character played by Gabriel Union, Ms Maryjane Paul. Like many women, Mary Jane seems strong, accomplished, self sufficient, and Unbreakable. But the truth is so far from that reality. As we see her spiraling to rock bottom as she sits in her beautiful glass house. Dealing with family issues, job insecurity, love woes, and now the recent suicide of her oldest friend. Maryjane seems to be failing apart, but some how at her lowest point she manages to pull herself up and begin to reclaim her life. Have you ever…

What I Know For Sure: Five Things Every Woman Needs To Have by The Time She Reaches Her Forties
By this stage in your life, you have probably spent a great deal of energy living up tosomeone else’s idea of you. Your parents, spouses, children, and society’s views and standards all impact how we see ourselves and or how we measure our successes or accomplishments and the lack thereof. I recently celebrated my 42nd birthday, and like most people I always contemplate my position in life as well as my future around my birthday. I am a real number weirdo, meaning I always look up numbers and see what they mean or correspond to. I remember when I turned forty and I looked it up, as I always do,…

Fall Of Pretty Tomboy: Cuffed Jeans, Blazers & Booties
This Fall look reminds of my childhood days rolling my pant legs up so I could race and play with the boys in my neighborhood. I would roll those wide leg jeans, (yes I’m a 70’s baby) or cords up in a second to race them on my bike, on foot and occasionally to hand out good ole mind changing “so you think you can beat me because I’m a girl” beating. Then one day, when I was about ten or eleven years old, all that changed. I came home from school and my cousin who was living with us at the time, brought home a friend from school. He…

The Fight of A Fit Phatty
Hey girlies! Its been a while since I’ve chatted with you! I hope all is good these days. For the past year I’ve been 75% serious about living a healthier lifestyle, HA! I say 75% because I will go hard for a few weeks and take an over-extended break. Honestly the exercising isn’t my biggest issue. My problem is……FOOD! I love food; not for nutrition, not to live, but merely the taste lol.The struggle has been real. No I havent lost a significant amount of weight, but I feel better and I can see the physical changes! I had two kids 19 months apart, and the last one was via…

Sistalove: Not Just For Sandra Bland Or Bobbi Christina: For You Too
Sistalove is a hashtag that I use on almost all of my posts. Not that all of the things I post are about women who are blood relatives, but everything I post is about uplifting and empowering the female collective. This sistalove is about the sisterhood that is defined as a society or community of women linked by common interests, religion, trade, or environment. This is the Sistalove that takes work. It’s this Sistalove that requires us to remember that little girl that inside us that needs to know she’s worthy. In the last few days there has been an overall sentiment ( which I share) of condolences and sympathy…
